End of an Era
Waiting for darkness, the smell of popcorn is in the air. You hear the chatter in the cars near you. Children run around in their pajamas, getting out the excess energy before they have to go back to the car. The screen brightens, music plays and children run back to the car and settle in. The speaker is placed on the car window and the volume is adjusted.
It was a time for bench front seats in cars, not the usual bucket seats that we have now. There were no head rests, so those seated in the back could actually see what was on the movie screen. Perhaps these new cars aided to the demise of the drive-in theater, those in the back cannot see through those safety devices.
It is sad to see a landmark go. Soon we will only see townhouses.
