Premature
Last weekend's warm temperatures along with a very cold December has fooled the trees into shedding the hard protective shell that surrounds the tender buds.
Most of us have protective shells. Once removed we are vulnerable, just like the buds. The shells do need to come off so we can grow, but doing so at the wrong time can do more damage than good.
Thankfully trees tend to be resilient and so are we.
Update on the powerball ticket... it is now lining my wastebasket.
