Bright Night

Bright moonlight striking casts shadows upon the newly fallen snow. Still is the night. Nothing is stirring; the fresh blanket is not broken with footprints. It is too cold for creatures to venture out. It has been a long time since there has been frost on the windows, the intricate patterns like delicate lace.

The peaceful night is soothing, the temperatures are not. Single digits are to be feared. The stillness is broken by the sound of the furnace kicking in to take the chill out of the air.
