Snow Day

This is a gift. The blanket of snow covers the dreary brownness of Autumn. Snow accentuates nature’s sculpture of trees. Watching the flakes fall is soothing to one's soul. It's light and fluffy, not good for snowballs.

Cars sliding on and off the streets. Stay home if you can, take a break from the normal hustle and bustle. Trucks with snow plows rumble down the street casting plumes of snow into the air. The plows cover sidewalks with mounds of packed snow. Many things are cancelled, slowing today's pace, including mine.

An opportunity to do somethings that normally you wouldn't get to do. Sleep in on a weekday. Play in the snow. Bake cookies with the kids and of course shovel the white stuff. Curl up with a blanket and a good book. Phone calls to friends. Cups of hot chocolate, mulled cider, movies at home. If we had a fireplace, I'd light a fire. The options are endless.

LOL I slept until 9am! It took me almost an hour to get home last night from school, a drive that normally takes 20-25 minutes, and I was stressed on top of running on 5 hours of sleep. Beautiful photo I wish I had the gumption to walk down to the park and take a few photos.
